A picture of Melissa McCarthy in character as Sookie in the Netflix revival of Gilmore Girls has been posted online. Read on for info and to see the photo!
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the Netflix reboot of our beloved show is really happening. Filming has wrapped and the show now appears on Netflix, although the episodes are not yet available to watch. The producers and cast haven't really given much away in terms of plot lines, which only increases the anticipation of what to expect. However, Milo Ventimiglia, who played bad boy Jess, said that the revival is classic Gilmore Girls, which we're happy to hear. He also allayed any fears that the new season wouldn't address the fate of Lorelai and Rory's love lives in the way that we all hope. The actor hinted that fans will be happy with the way things are resolved with Lorelai and Luke. But he was more mum when it came to whether or not Rory finds her way back to one of her past loves.
When it was announced that Melissa McCarthy wouldn't be returning for the Gilmore Girls revival, we were in disbelief. We knew it had to be a mistake or that the producers would go to whatever lengths possible to ensure that she joined, because the reboot without Sookie just wouldn't be the same. Luckily all of our wishes were granted when it was finally announced that she would make an appearance. However, until now, we haven't seen any proof that McCarthy is really involved. That is until now. Brenda Maben, the costume supervisor for the show, recently posted a picture to Instagram of her with McCarthy and Yanic Truesdale, who plays surly Michel. Unfortunately, Maben's account is private, but luckily Deadline was kind enough to take a screenshot of the pic and share it. In the photo, McCarthy is sporting the signature bandana that chef Sookie was always seen wearing in the kitchen. It's now official and we can't wait for Netflix to announce when the show will premiere. Are you happy to see Sookie back in her old bandana?
