Gilmore Girls revival to unveil Michel's backstory

We are overjoyed that one of Gilmore Girls' most beloved characters, Michel Gerard, will be returning for the revival season. Now actor Yanic Truesdale puts a cherry on the Stars Hollow cake by happily teasing the expansion of Michel's storyline.

Hands up, who loves Michel? Everyone? Good answer. Michel made his name in the Gilmore Girls series by being the cynical, Celine Dion-loving, dog owning concierge who always kept us laughing with his fantastic one-liners. Now, along with the rest of the original cast, Yanic Truesdale will be returning to the role of the lovable Frenchman in the show's revival season, titled Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, which is hinted to be released around a certain American holiday. Speaking to US Weekly, Truesdale spoke about what changes we'll see in his character, and added that Michel will be getting a backstory by saying: “I think very rarely he was outside of the inn. And we didn’t know much about his personal life. So this time is different. We know much more. But it gives me meat for the character because he, you know, I definitely have an arc and stuff going on in my personal life that affect the character. So the fans can expect to discover more about Michel."

Truesdale starred on the show from when it first began in 2000, until the final episode of Season 7 aired in 2007. Michel has seen both of the Gilmore Girls go through a multitude of heartbreaks, especially our Rory, but when asked if he had any preference as to which of Rory's ex-boyfriends she should end up with, he joked: "I know Jess was a bad guy. I know that Logan was kind of rich. But I think in my memory he was kind of nice? It’s kind of vague. And the one that I remember the most — because I started the show with him, was Jared, who is f--king adorable. He was such an adorable kid and still is an adorable guy. So I’m very fond of him as a friend and all of that, so in my head, when people always ask me [what team I’m on], I’m like, 'Oh! It’s Jared!'"

That choice is not a popular one amongst us here at melty (#TeamJess), and even a recent cast member went so far as to reveal who Rory won't be getting back together with in the Gilmore Girls revival. However, what's certain is that all three of Rory's former suitors are thrilled to be back on set for such a magical show.
