Could this photo of James Gunn posing with Mjolnir be teasing that Chris Hemsworth will appear as Thor in Guardians of the Galaxy 2? Check out the pic below
There's no Marvel fan out there that isn't excited by Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The first film in the series surprised everyone with how different it was to previous Marvel films, and everyone quickly fell in love with Chris Pratt's Star-Lord. There's been some very exciting news recently as it's been hinted that the Guardians of the Galaxy are all likely to turn up in Avengers: Infinity War, but even more exciting is a photo posted on James Gunn's Instagram account, which suggests that Thor might be making an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Check out the photo below, in which director James Gunn poses with Mjolnir on the set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. So what does this mean? Will Chris Hemsworth be making a cameo? Or was the hammer just lying around?
According to a tweet from James Gunn (which you can find above), it's just a coincidence and Thor won't be in the movie. While he could be telling the truth, it wouldn't be the first time a director has lied to keep exciting plot twists in the film a secret. It's worth noting though that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 hits cinemas a few months before Thor: Ragnarok, so if Thor did put in an appearance, it would likely tie into the final film in Thor's trilogy. Considering how vocal James Gunn has been in the past about how he isn't setting up future films with Guardians and is just telling his own story, it doesn't seem likely that he'd include Thor just for the sake of it. If it's only a little cameo though, it's not impossible, so we still hold out in hope! For regular updates on Guardians of the Galaxy, click the green subscribe button below.
