When it was first announced that Tyler Hoechlin would be playing Superman in the DC TV universe, we got very excited. With so many big superheroes on TV right now, could we see the beginnings of a television-based Justice League? Andrew Kreisberg has said we should question everything in Supergirl Season 2 so the appearance of Superman may not be all that it seems, but until the series airs, we should relish the thought of the man of steel making his television debut on The CW. And to build up hype for the new series, Supergirl's Twitter account has shared a new teaser image from Season 2, that shows Melissa Benoist's Supergirl and Tyler Hoechlin's Superman standing side by side. Check it out in the photo gallery below!

The Kryptonian superheroes appear together at last!

Superman's posture looks a little odd, though it's likely done so as not to detract attention from Supergirl, who is still the star of the show. The suit was designed by Supergirl costume designer Kiersten Ronning, and pretty much looks exactly as we'd expect. Tyler Hoechlin shared his thoughts on the weird experience of being Superman at this year's Comic Con, and The Hollywood Reporter reported that he said: "It's definitely incredibly surreal. I know the character represents so much to so many people. This is not a generational thing. This is something literally spread across so much time. There is a lot of responsibility with this character. I'm really excited. I have not tried on the suit yet. That will be a moment for sure." Well someone was telling porkies! Another CWverse actor, Brandon Routh, has also famously played Superman on the big screen, so we look forward to some potential tongue-in-cheek reference between the two. What do you think of the new suit?
