The release of X-Men: Apocalypse is fast approaching, and Ben Hardy has dished on how his character Angel earned his wings

Not long ago, Ben Hardy left his steady job playing Peter Beale in the British TV Soap Opera, East Enders, and within what seemed like minutes, he landed the role of Angel in Bryan Singer's X-Men Apocalypse. In an interview with Flicks and the City Plus, the actor revealed what we can expect from his character, and why Angel is swayed into joining Apocalypse's band of Four Horsemen. By joining Apocalypse, Angel is further aiding the villain's goal of ridding the world of the weak. Speaking of Apocalypse's influence on his character, Hardy explains: "When Apocalypse approaches [Angel] he's physically weak, his main power, his wings, have been crippled, he's crippled, and mentally he's very angry, he's angry with humans, hence why he's very easy to persuade." Being taken advantage of definitely agrees with him, as Angel is looking positively biblical alongside the rest of the Four Horsemen in the latest character posters for X-Men: Apocalypse.

Speaking of the film's merits and how it differs from the X-Men movies we've seen before, Hardy teased: "I think what sets this film apart, and what the audience will love about this film, is that you've got so many journeys in this film. If you look at the journey of Scott Summers, he goes from this troubled kid into a recruited X-Men who's found a way to channel his powers." We're definitely looking forward to seeing Scott Summers in X-Men: Apocalypse, and Bryan Singer has even dished on the romantic links between Cyclops and Jean Grey. The combination between the individual character arcs the film's epic storyline is one thing, but we are most eager to see the infamous supervillain, Apocalypse, in action. Speaking with FAULT Magazine on Angel's much talked about transformation from Angel to Archangel, and whether it will be true to the comics, Hardy exclaimed: "I can't say! But I will say that it's a really awesome transformation scene." For all the latest news and updates on X-Men: Apocalypse, click the green subscribe button below.
