The Merc with a Mouth is getting a sequel! 20th Century Fox has confirmed that Deadpool 2 is happening and announces that Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miller and the whole creative team are returning!

It’s official guys! The news you’ve all be waiting for, and also the news we’ve been expecting for some time now. Wade Wilson is going to kick, slash, shoot, kill, quip and be amazing again in Deadpool 2. Deadpool, which became the highest grossing R-rated film of all time, and then the highest grossing X-Men film of all time, delighted audiences the world over (apart from China where it didn’t get released). It’s made 758,591,423 dollars and counting worldwide and was the surprise hit of 2016. We loved it, and we’re ecstatic to find out that Ryan Reynolds, Tim Miller, and the entire creative team who helped in giving us the Deadpool film the Merc with a Mouth deserved to the big screen. We at melty salute you!

20th Century Fox’s co-chairman, Stacey Snider, announced this wonderful piece of news at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday. According to Variety: “The entire creative team behind the superhero blockbuster will be back, with original writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick handling script duties.” This will be music to the ears of Ryan Reynolds, whose career was in a bit of a pickle after starring in flops such as RIPD and Green Lantern. It was a bit of miracle that he got this film made in the first place, which took him the better half of ten years to make, and especially considering Wade Wilson’s horrible treatment in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Why sew up the Merc with a Mouth’s mouth? Idiots. Reynolds was talking about the sequel, back when it hadn’t been officially confirmed, at the MTV Movie Awards, where he said: “If it ain’t broke, don’t break it.” We completely agree Ryan. Don’t you dare break Deadpool for us! How excited are you to see Deadpool 2?
