Fifty Shades Darker film dates and budget have been revealed

The final two installments in the Fifty Shades trilogy are about to get underway filming in Vancouver starting with Fifty Shades Darker. Read on for all the details!

It's been a little quiet lately on the Fifty Shades front. The last we checked, Jamie Dornan announced that he can't wait to reprise his role as the tortured billionaire Christian Grey and to delve deeper into his character for Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. Despite criticism that the movie franchise has received, Dakota Johnson recently declared to British Vogue that she is very proud of the film and her character. Although they've only made the first installment in the trilogy, she doesn't feel any hesitation in declaring that she is happy with the decision to take on the role of Anastasia Steele, as it helped put her on the map and has given her the chance to do a range of different types of movies. The only downside that the actress found to embodying the kinky role is the fact that it's taken a toll on her love life. Apparently men are timid in approaching her as a result of associating her with her onscreen character. You can't always have it all, but at least her career isn't suffering and the actress is now able to command six figures!

We now have new info on when Fifty Shades Darker will get underway. It has been announced that the second movie in the saga will begin filming on February 9 in Vancouver. The working title, as registered with the Director's Guild of Canada is 'Further Adventures of Max & Banks 2 & 3', which makes sense since Darker and Freed will be filmed back-to-back and the working title of the first film was 'The Adventures of Max & Banks'. We're not sure why this was the name chosen, but we're just happy to know that production is about to get underway. Another tidbit is the fact that the movie is listed as having a production budget over $20 million. Although it doesn't indicate how much over that mark the budget is, it is interesting since the first film had a budget of $40 million and went on to make $570 million worldwide. There's no indication as to why the budget for Darker has been cut in half, but maybe it has to do with the fact that Freed will be filmed right after it. There's still no word from Universal on who will play the secondary characters of Leila Williams, Jack Hyde and Mrs. Robinson. We will simply have to wait and see.
