Sansa Stark finally got the justice she deserved in Game of Thrones Season 6: Episode 9, and Sophie Turner has spoken out about what that final scene meant to her.
For the first time in six seasons, Sansa Stark is actually in a good place. Jon's army has retaken Winterfell, Ramsay Bolton is dead, and the North will likely be ready to rally behind her. In an interview with HBO blog Making Game of Thrones, Sophie Turner discussed her feelings on recent events and talked about how Sansa felt going into the battle against Ramsay in Game of Thrones Season 6: Episode 9. The actress said: "Sansa wasn’t expecting to win this battle – but she was hoping. She has faith in her army of Houses, but it was still a huge risk. It's less of a pessimistic view and more of a determination. She refuses to go back to Ramsay; she would rather die. At the same time, she knows Ramsay's tactics and how his mind works. I think she believes she has the upper hand." While Sansa demonstrated that she is a sound tactician before the battle (much like her mother), the highlight was her final confrontation with Ramsay.
On what it meant for Sansa to command and watch Ramsay's death, Turner shared: "It means so much because it's finally her chance to directly get revenge for what he's done to her. Emotionally, it is so gratifying to watch this man suffer for what he's done but also to be given the opportunity by Jon to solely take charge of something that typically would be his job. The fact that she doesn't have to persuade him to give her this opportunity is also very important in her eyes, because it's really the first time this season that Jon has acknowledged her as capable of taking charge." We'd like to see a lot more of Sansa taking charge, and with Daenerys and Yara appearing to make their own exclusive alliance in Game of Thrones Season 6, we'd love to see Sansa jump in on that and become part of their triumvirate.
