Nope! It's not happening. Chris Hemsworth's Thor will not be turning up in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy 2!
We all got very excited when James Gunn posted a picture of himself posing with Thor's hammer, otherwise known as Mjolnir. But unfortunately it seems like Thor, the God of Thunder, will not be making an appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. With Thor: Ragnarok rumored to be more of cosmic journey movie, it seemed as if the two franchises could have come together nicely. However, it turns out that James Gunn was just having a bit of fun with us. He's since squashed the rumors suggesting that we could be seeing a Thor cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on his Facebook page. It turns out that Gunn is just very worthy of both picking up Thor's hammer and directing a kickass Marvel movie.
James Gunn put an end to all of that speculation when he confirmed on his Facebook page that Thor won't be in his movie. “No, Thor isn’t in Vol. 2. The props guy just happened to have [his hammer] around and I decided to take a pic with it. Not sure if I’m able to lift it because I’m worthy or because I’m soulless like an elevator.” Gunn is currently hard at work filming the sequel to his hugely popular Guardians of the Galaxy, which will see Elizabeth Debicki play Ayesha, who's rumored to be the villain of the piece. Gunn also took to Twitter to confirm that there will be no Avengers in Vol. 2. “The statement I’ve made is that there will be no Avengers in GotGVol2,” wrote Gunn. However, there have been rumors suggesting that the Guardians will appear in the Infinity War movies, which will be a lot of fun. Did you hope to see Thor in GotGVol. 2?
