Marvel and 20th Century Fox might be thinking of bringing their superhero franchises together

Could the biggest superhero crossover of all time be on the horizon? While it's unlikely that it will happen before Infinity War, the X-Men may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe after all!

First, Sony brokered a deal with Marvel Entertainment, allowing Spider-Man to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and now an even bigger deal with 20th Century Fox could be about to happen! While the TV crossover between The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow promises to be an epic event, we think this cinematic crossover wins hands down. The X-Men are of course characters from the Marvel comics, though their rights were sold to 20th Century Fox awhile ago, which means that the Marvel movies can't use characters from the X-Men, and the latter exists in its own separate universe. Joss Whedon did use Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch in Age of Ultron, however this is because both characters have been on an Avengers roster, and the mutant and Magneto backstory was done away with. Marvel and 20th Century Fox may not have seen eye to eye in the past, but comic book fans may be getting their dream crossover. Check out the podcast that discusses it below!

Speaking on the Collider Heroes podcast, producer Matt Key said: "I've heard from a few of my sources, my little birds, that Fox and Marvel have kind of talked, but not really, but there's interest from Fox. We're years from that ever possibly happening, but I think that's what it would take, is Fox joining hands with Marvel." While news of a potential joint universe is incredibly exciting, you'd think that it would be difficult due to two versions of Quicksilver existing or the whole world-changing event with Apocalypse, but it seems not. After all, Marvel and 20th Century Fox are two giant behemoths, and if they want this crossover to happen, then they'll make it happen. Furthermore, multiverses are all the rage in the comics, so we're confident that it could easily be explained away.
