Orange Is The New Black star Natasha Lyonne dishes on the show's dedicated fan base and what the support means to her. Read on to see what she had to say
When Season 3 of Orange Is The New Black came out last June on Netflix we quickly binge watched it in one weekend, as most of you probably did too. Since then, we've been wondering when the next season will be out and what we can expect when it returns. It was recently announced that Season 4 of OITNB has been given a release date of June 17, so at least we now have a date in sight! Unfortunately for fans of the show, there has been a lot of speculation as to whether or not Nicky will be returning to the series for Season 4. We recently wrote about our fear that she might be gone from Orange Is The New Black for good, following her departure early in Season 3 after she was sent to maximum security when Luschek pinned the discovery of heroin in his desk on her. Having only appeared in four episodes last season, the chances of her returning are not looking good. There have been other characters that have been sent off to the SHU and come back, so we're crossing our fingers that Nicky's case is similar and we haven't seen the last of her.
Natasha Lyonne, who plays Nicky on OITNB recently spoke to PopSugar about the devotion of the show's fans, giving us hope that perhaps she will be returning for the upcoming season this summer. Comparing OITNB to FX's American Horror Story she said that each show has a rabid fan base who are obsessive in their devotion to the story lines. She tried to clarify and make the show's fan-base sound less extreme by saying: "Those fans tend to also be really personal, that's a better way of putting it than 'rabid.' It becomes really personal." She also echoed a popular sentiment of fans everywhere, us included, when she said that:"people spend a full 11 months and 29 days compulsively obsessing about 'When is it coming out? What's happening?' And then, within one day, 13 hours, they consume the entire thing, and then it's just boom! Right back to, like, 'I have more questions. Next season, I wanna know.'" We don't know anyone who is capable of spacing out watching a season over more than one weekend. It's just too addictive to hold off. We just have to wait until June, or until more info comes out, to see if Lyonne really is gone for good. For more Orange Is The New Black updates click the green subscribe button below!
