Star Wars Episode 8: Mark Hamill clears up those dead Luke Skywalker rumors

Written by

We all got worried for a bit, but Mark Hamill has clarified that he was not teasing Luke Skywalker's death in Star Wars: Episode 8. We hope that this isn't some sort of double bluff...

Everybody lost their minds a bit when Mark Hamill made an offhand comment during his interview with The Kinks' Ray Davies which appeared in The Big Issue. During this interview everybody's favorite Jedi joked, "I finish Episode VIII, and then I’m out of work." Many people took this to mean that he isn't going to be appearing in Star Wars: Episode IX, which is set to be directed by Colin Trevorrow. Fans were worried that we would see Luke Skywalker die in Star Wars: Episode 8, which is somewhat understandable. However, Hamill took to Twitter to clear up those dead Luke rumors. Check out what he said below.

Judging by his tweet, Hamill clearly thinks that everybody jumped the gun slightly on this one. "I meant 'out of work' because #Ep8 is wrapping soon, OK? #DontOverThinkEVERYTHING #ParsingHamill #WaitForVIII," wrote the actor on his very active Twitter account. He certainly has a point. We should all simply wait for Episode 8 to find out what happens to the Jedi. But then again, he could simply be lulling us into a false sense of security. We've heard rumors that Luke will be incredibly powerful in Star Wars: Episode 8, and that he'll slice and dice practically all of Kylo Ren's Knight of Ren. These are of course nothing but rumors, but we know that Rian Johnson has something very special in store for us Star Wars fans and we can't wait to see what happens in the sequel to the box office smash hit The Force Awakens! Do you think that Mark Hamill is really telling the truth?
