What impact will [SPOILER]'s betrayal in the season finale have on Reddington in The Blacklist Season 4? Creator Jon Bokenkamp dishes on the details! Warning: the following article contains spoilers for The Blacklist Season 3 finale
Recently The Blacklist bosses discussed that shocking twist in the Season 3 finale, that saw Megan Boone's Elizabeth Keen return to the show alive and well after having been believed to be dead by legions of fans. The same interview with Entertainment Weekly touched on how the news affects Reddington in Season 4, and Jon Bokenkamp gives quite the insightful answer that teases what to expect. Bokenkamp revealed: "Red is devastated. On one hand, he understands the danger he’s brought to Liz by being part of her life the past three years — he knew the dangers — but on the other hand, he’s only cooperating with the FBI so he can be part of her life. Emotionally, Reddington is in a very tricky and precious place. There is nothing worse than blatant rejection."
We have a feeling that Red is going to be left reeling by the time the Season 4 premiere comes round. Mr. Kaplan was the person he trusted the most in the world and she betrayed him, and as if that wasn't enough, the person he cared about the most in the world wanted him to think she was dead so he would leave her alone. If that doesn't scream complicated relationship, we don't know what does. But will Red find it in himself to forgive Liz and Mr. Kaplan? We know that Reddington would do anything for Elizabeth, but considering he had a gun to Mr. Kaplan's head in Episode 23, it's clear that her betrayal cut him so deep that they might not be able to come back from it.
