Season 7 of The Vampire Diaries drew to a close will a shock-filled finale! Executive producer Julie Plec recently weighed in on "Gods & Monsters" and teased what's to come next season
The Vampire Diaries Season 7 ended with a shocking twist that saw Damon and Enzo hanging bodies from a the ceiling during a West Coast rampage following their encounter with the Evil Thing in The Armory vault. Check out our Episode 22 recap if you missed TVD Season 7 finale. Both Damon and Enzo have always had a bit of a villainous streak in them, but no matter how bad they act we know deep down that they have hearts of gold. However they've seemingly become possessed by the evil spirit thing and it's clear that Bonnie, Stefan and the others have their work cut out if they want to save the pair.
Speaking about how Bonnie will feel towards her bf and bff's new nefarious disposition, executive producer Julie Plec told E! News: "I don't think she should feel guilt. All these predicaments—the circumstance is so out of her control, and she did everything that she could to fight it, so I don't want to see her wallowing in any kind of guilt. I do, however, think she is in a terrible emotional place, because two of the people she loves most in the world are in a bad spot, and she doesn't have the equipment to fix them or to help them. It's going to be tough for her to get thought the next chapter."
On a happier note, another huge event from the finale is that Stefan and Caroline got back together. Steroline fans rejoice! Plec revealed: "We actually went back and forth through a good portion of the season about whether [Stefan and Caroline] should be together and happy, or permanently broken up, and thank God, love won. It's a nicer way to end the story. I'm looking forward to seeing them be able to have a relationship that makes them happy, and we'll see."
Alaric finally accepted the fact that Caroline will never love him the way she loves Stefan, and he let her go. However it was super sweet to hear him tell Caroline that they'll always be a family even if they're not romantically involved. We wonder if we'll be seeing more of this blended family dynamic next season. Julie Plec has also dished on Nina Dobrev's surprising cameo in TVD Season 7 finale and revealed that there's a plan in motion for Dobrev's character Elena to return in the flesh for the series finale. Fans have speculated that Season 8 may be the final season, although we're hopeful that it won't be. Bur it looks like we'll just have to wait and see. What did you think about Season 7's shock-filled finale?
