The Vampire Diaries Season 8 to introduce recurring character Sybil

The Vampire Diaries Season 8 is set to introduce some new faces as Bonnie, Stefan and Caroline work to save Damon and Enzo from the evil vault monster. Read on for details about newbie Sybil.

Following The Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev's departure from the show, Lily and the Heretics, Alex and The Armory, and Rayna were introduced to shake things up in Mystic Falls. Sadly, only Valerie remains and she seems to have gone off on her own after encouraging Stefan to try to make things work with Caroline. So it's safe to say that we'll be seeing some new faces in the upcoming season. TVD showrunner Julie Plec's new drama series Containment was not renewed for a second season, so one of the show's actresses, Kristen Gutoskie, is moving on over to join The Vampire Diaries Season 8 cast. She'll be playing Seline, who belongs to a mysterious new "family," that we are very interested in learning more about. With Bonnie, Stefan and Caroline learning about a string of disappearances on the West Coast, which they know must be Damon and Enzo's doing, it looks like the trio will be taking a road trip and will undoubtedly meet some new friends and adversaries along the way.

We've got some more new character info as TVLine's Michael Ausiello revealed: "The show is currently casting the recurring role of Sybil, 'an immortal who uses her immeasurable power and influence to control other people, manipulating them into twisted games and tests for her own amusement and glorification.' Time will tell whether she proves to be a friend or foe, but given this show’s penchant for sympathetic villains, it could also be fair to assume she’ll be a bit of both." Ausiello also confirmed that viewers will meet Sybil in the Season 8 premiere. And if you're just itching for more Vampire Diaries news, then you're in luck! The Vampire Diaries cast and creative team are returning for their eighth San Diego Comic-Con appearance. You can catch TVD Special Video Presentation and Q&A on Saturday, July 23 at 11 AM. Mark that down in your calendars! What do you make of this new Sybil character.
