X-Men Apocalypse: Bryan Singer talks Wolverine's cameo

X-Men: Apocalypse's director, Bryan Singer, recently revealed how he got Hugh Jackman to cameo as Wolverine in his film. It's safe to say that Jackman didn't need much convincing!

So they had us guessing for months whether everybody's favourite X-Men (sorry, but he is), would turn up in X-Men: Apocalypse. After all the talk and all the lies, we finally found out the truth. Yes, Wolverine does have a small part to play in Apocalypse, and we're so glad that he does. We won't go into spoilers regarding his cameo. All that we'll say is that a lot of blood was shed during his scene. Bryan Singer finally admitted to having the clawed mutant in his movie, saying that Wolverine's cameo is "the birth of a new direction." You'll have to see the film to understand what he meant by that. Singer's recently spoke to Empire Magazine about how he managed to convince the Aussie Hollywood star to appear in the latest X-Men flick, and it was far easier than you'd expect.

Bryan Singer previously told Empire Magazine that “Wolverine was never a big part of the formation of the X-Men, so he can’t be in this story.” But X-Men: Apocalypse proved that he may have been bending the truth slightly. In a more recent interview with Empire, Singer revealed how he 'convinced' Jackman to cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse. “I called him up and pitched it to him directly,” said Singer. “It was a rare moment for an actor – usually they say, ‘I’ll think about that’, but he said, ‘no mate, it works brilliantly. Count me in’. I hung up the phone knowing I had a commitment for the cameo, which was unusual. He’s a friend, of course, but you commit to a small amount of time in the life of an actor, and that’s very hard to do.”

Wolverine is obviously a role that Jackman loves to play, be it a small cameo, and we're sad to hear that Wolverine 3 will be the last time we get to see the Aussie use the claws. We recently learned that Jackman will be joined by Patrick Stewart in Wolverine 3, who'll be reprising his role as Professor X. Happy days! What did you think of Wolverine's cameo in X-Men: Apocalypse?
